That title makes me giggle. I hate it when people describe a lift as being functional. What does that mean? Does that mean that a squat isn’t functional because they’re not called functional squats? What about functional strength? Does that mean powerlifters aren’t strong because they’re not “functional”? GAAAHHH!!!! Anyways, I used that wording to trick search engines. I really wanted to call it, “Stop doing crunches, you fools!!!1!11!!”
It is true though. You really should stop doing crunches. Everyone knows they’re not trendy anymore. Gosh!
Anyways, rather than restating what I say in the video, just watch it and take notes.
If that wasn’t enough. Here’s 2 very very simple variations.
Now, you wanna get nuts? Let’s get nuts. Try this at your own risk!
Honestly, my abs were ROCKED for two days. So awesome. What do your ab workouts or “functional core” workouts look like? Let me know!
def need to buy some elastic bands… i only have the ones with handles… i suppose i could maybe try them…
could using different strength elastic bands on either end at one more variation?
what about a 5 gallon jug of water half full so the water sloshes?
Cool reminds me of using a slosh pipe. As for me I don’t mind still throwing in some crunches, etc…but I also like throwing in some other “functional” stuff.

@Derrick
Those could work as long as they’re not too elastic. I tried doing the overhead carry with the skinny bands, and I couldn’t even get the bar into the clean position.
@Bill
I played around with a sloshpipe last Saturday. That thing was no joke!
