Thailand Street Food
F I N A L L Y the post you’ve all been waiting for…
STREET FOOD IN THAILAND!
The Bangkok and Chiang Mai edition. You can bet your ass there will be follow-up posts about food. It’s so damn amazing, and I know I haven’t eaten everything possible yet… Yet. 😉
I don’t really know the names of most of these dishes so you’re just going to have to use your imagination. I know most of the components that go into them, but the Thai names? Yeesh. No way. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.
The last thing I’ll mention is that most of what you see here only costs about $1 in each picture. Absolutely none of them cost more than $3. Yup!
- This is supposed to be incredibly spicy. I found it “just pleasant,” but the Thai person sitting across from me was firstly scared I wouldn’t be able to eat it, and secondly impressed when I added more pepper flakes.
- Stir-fried vegetables with glass noodles and eggs
One of the most amazing foods I’ve encountered: Khao Niao Sangkhaya (Sticky rice with coconut cream and egg custard)
- Spicy Papaya salad with shrimp
- This is rice with pha loa. I was hoping it would be a version of the Vietnamese dish: Thit Kho Trung, but sadly it was not.
A sweet and buttery glaze on top of a light, flaky pastry with sliced, toasted almonds
- See those brown cubes? That’s coagulated chicken blood in green curry. And it’s delicious
- First Thai Meal: Tub Pad Ka Prow
- Boiled chicken over rice with broth and chili sauce
Yummy, can’t wait to arrive there…Soon 😀
Hi! When and where are you heading in Thailand?!
Chiang Mai, August 28
You will love it. Half of those pics are from Chiang Mai. You definitely want to eat Khao Soy. Pronounced “cow soy.” I’ll be in the southern islands by that time. Let me know if you get down that way.
